Breakfast in Casa do Bairro by Shiadu

The location of Casa do Bairro is truly great as it is not in the pricey tourist part of Lisboa but within walking-reach. There are several busstops very close to the hotel, where different busroutes come and go. The 28 tram has a stop around a street away from the hotel, which was one of the best things about the location of the hotel. The hotel is walking-reach (perhaps appr. 10 min.) from the TIME OUT market, where there are also occationally held markets at Jardim Dom Luis. It worked very well and was convenient that we got a card-key which was both used for the outergate to the hotel, so that we could come and go as we please at any hour of the day, and for the room. We got a free upgrade upon arrival and check-in at the hotel. We had booked a normal-sized bedroom for 2 people but got upgraded to a family-sized bedroom for free. There was always water, tea and coffee in the lounge which was free to take from at any hour. The breakfast was better than expected. Each morning we were greeted by smiling and happy employees asking us how we would like our fresh homemade eggs (boiled, scrambled, fried) as well as type of coffee. There were stable ingredients which were always the same, such as bread, cheese and meats, but aside from that there was great variation in several types of juices, fruits, pastries, jams and snacks; some were even traditional portugese. The employees were great in giving advice about which restaurants in town were especially worth trying and the local traditional portugese options and were able to be flexible in her research (vegetarian options). They also gave good advice in transportation, routes and attractions to visit both in Lisboa and other towns such as Sintra. It was possible to buy a transportation card/pass (24-h, 48-h, 72-hour) from the hotel, which made scheduling much easier, than having to buy it at a ticket machine or from the central station. We will definitely recommend Casa do Bairro to friends and family!

Staff were fantastic. The lady who met me the night I arrived was fantastic. I think her name was Mila. Helpful, kind and thoughtful as well as efficient and professional. She went out of her way to help me find the property after a taxi dropped me off a distance away and I was unsure where to go. Breakfast service was great. Welcoming and efficient. I was welcomed back whilst waiting for my taxi to airport and offered coffee and a seat. A nice touch. Cleaning of room was fine other than some hairs and bits around I noticed. I was a single traveller and my room had a sloped roof which wasn’t comfortable for me nor accessible. Location ideal. About 20 mins walk to touristy area and some great little alley ways to explore locally with eateries and places of interest. I loved the area much more than the central area. Would return to stay here.

It's the second time I've given them a review, but I think it's worth it. This is my place in Lisbon. The house at this point almost feels like a home away from home. The breakfast is delicious, it's well varied and brings Portuguese cuisine on display. I cannot express how nice and helpful the staff is (cleaners, cooks, and the girls at the reception), I think they are really the main assets. I've stayed in two different rooms during my trips and both were cozy and clean. The last one had a really nice view too. The location is superb, you can walk everywhere. I'd recommend it with my eyes closed and hopefully will be back soon.

Excellent location for this beautiful b&b in the middle of city. Barrio is split in two part, the upper side is quite rough especially at night, but the b&b is in fact located in the lower Barrio which is walking distance from the main shopping sites, cool restaurants and Figueira's square where most of the tours start from. Uber can not reach the b&b exact location, only official taxis can, make sure to account for it depending on the luggage you arrive with. The venue is cosy, well furbished and clean. Bed are super comfortable and the area quiet and safe.

The stay was so perfect with the options of a taxi service or personal shuttle to pick you up from the airport everyone was so mindful and considerate. I came in late and had no worries of getting to my room. The staff everyday just had great energy and the breakfast was delicious. I even had a very early flight and they booked me a taxi service and a little to go box for food since I couldn’t make breakfast. Truly felt so relaxed. Being next to Bairro Alto neighborhood and walking distance to some main attractions was so convenient.
